Hey everyone, I just bought my first baitcaster. It's a Penn 309M Levelwind and I love it. I think I'm going to make a complete switch from big spinning gear to baitcasters.

congrats on your new reel. I think that Penn conventional reels are absolutely the best reels I've ever used.

One warning to you, though: you can't stop with just one Penn reel. Don't even try. These classic beauties are about as cheap as dirt and will last forever.

Good Luck! I'm sure you'll love it. I'm an Abu Garcia man myself but those Penn's are hard to beat let alone go wrong with. I've never heard a bad thing about them but have never personally used one.
Let us know how it goes and looking forward to pics of the Monsters you catch with it!!!:big_smile:

Also, Welcome to the BOC Brother!!! :)

If you like the 309, try a Jigmaster next. No level wind and a better cast, and though not quite as big as the 309, it's a good size stout reel.

However, you have been warned, you can't stop at just one Penn!
