It is now mandatory by age that all operators of a boat or PWC must have a certificate of completion of a USCG ran boaters safety course. I was good till June of 2008 but got it outa the way. By June 2009 all operators over 16 years of age must have one. Let me say that I'm talkin about the wonderfull state of New Jersey. There was quite a bit of info given out in the 8 hour class. Alot that I was aware of and some that I wasn't. They touched on navigation requirements such as knowin what the various bouys represent on a large river, safety, radio useage, USCG required boat items and lots of other good info. The course was well worth burnin the personal day from work and I recomend it to anyone that can take it. They also agree that PWCs are the scurge of the water. LOL!
