Well, after having some huge Blue's break my line Saturday I was determined to give it another shot yesterday (Sunday) and it turned out pretty well. I didn't get eithier one of the Blue's that broke my 30lb line Saturday because I know they were at least 40 pounds, but I managed to land this nice 30 pounder that gave me a nice 15 minute battle. I was fishing with the Slip bobber rig of course, with live Bream. We had only been fishing for about 10 minutes and I saw my Bobber go straight down in a heartbeat, knowing I had pretty big bait I let the fish run for a good amount of time and then layed into him with my 10/0 King Kahle hook....and it definitely did a good job, hooked the fish right in the corner of it's mouth nice and solid as it normally does.

I knew the fish was at least 20 pounds when I hooked it, and had to walk down the bank about 50 yards to land it because of the current from the boils, once I got straight over the fish it was a straight up and down tug-a-war....I would gain line, then the fish would take it, this occured for about 10 minutes until finally I managed to get the fish barely in the net and we landed it...and believe me it still had a lot of fight left in it. After pictures for the Fish Off I took, I climbed down the cliff and managed to get the fish back in the water without it pulling me in with it.

Needless to say I was pretty excited as I have had a pretty bad year so far of just being able to get out on the water. It's eithier been my Dad working way TOO much, and just not having anytime to go fishing, or problems with our truck which is the only way to take the boat.

Anyway, here is a picture of the fish.

Also, if you look in the background of the picture you will notice the big cliff I speak of, so now you can imagine what I mean when I say I managed to release the fish without going in with it! There was actually a close call, I had the fish in one hand and was trying to grip the rocks with the other, and there's hardly anywhere to put your feet and actually slipped for a second....then we went home because I had to change underware...LOL

Thanks everyone, appreciate the nice comments! Keith, it's good to see you again, been a while since I've seen you on here.

Jp, it's Roanoke Rapids Dam, which is 2 dams down from Kerr, it's the Roanoke River, great fishing spot, just very hard. For one thing you walk about half a mile just to get down there and there's big hills and stuff you go down/up. It's quite an adventure actually.
