check ebay for a used ambassadeur 6000 or 5600...that is where i buy mine. generally you can get the vintage ambassadeurs cheap.

I honestly dont think you will find a good one under $40 , unless it is used.

I've bought a couple of okuma classics of e-bay for less than $30 apiece and they are a good solid reel. verry strong drag!

    Go with the Ebay idea.
No other new reels are going to be good.

Okuma makes some very good baitcasters under 30 bucks and you'll find them on Ebay.

As CJ21 said Tidewater baitcast reels at walmart are only 30to35 dollars and a 30L will hold 330 yards of 20Lbs test there about the same size as a ABU7000.For the money they are a good buy they have stiff bait clicker is only thing i have against them.

check out catfish connection. The okuma classic pro 202 is probably the best reel for the price. I have two of these and they are built extremely well, cast great, have strong drags and loud bait clickers. Also check out ebay, they usually sell the 202 two at a time. I got two of them last year for around 40. They are awsome reels.

i went cheap on reels once and fixed the problem by spening an extra 30 bucks on my next reel and i dont have as many casting and drag problems... It may be tempting to go cheap but in the long run the better quality is worth it.... as for a good cheap casting reel id havta say spincast zebcos are nice.... they are almost always under 30 and a very solid reel if i may add.... But spinner and baitcast reels dont cop out on because in the long run ull pay more....
