1 Cup "Wesson" or other good oil. Canola can be used 1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar 1 Cup Dark Molasses 1 Heaping TBS ground Ginger 1 Heaping Tsp ground Cinnamon 1 Heaping Tsp ground Cloves 1 Heaping Tsp ground Nutmeg (Fresh is best) 3-1/2 Cups Flour 2Tsp Baking Soda 1/2 Tsp Salt 1 Cup Buttermilk Put oil, brown sugar, molasses, and spices in a large bowl and mix well. Let sit in a warm place until sugar has melted. (I usually mix and night and let set overnight) Once melted beat well until mixture is smooth and syrupy. Sift flour, salt, and baking soda together. Add flour mixture and buttermilk to the syrup, alternating between the two when adding. Pour batter into pan and bake at 325 Degrees as follows: 9 x 12 pan - 40 Minutes Bundt pan - Approx. 1 hour This freezes well if tightly wrapped. Enjoy!
