It never fails, right when I was becoming so full of envy toward all the boat fishing guys, it happened. I have been in a slump lately, had'nt caught a fish in a month :embarassed:. I went out this morning aiming to target Blues and Flats. I took 3 poles, 2 being my normal Flathead poles but this time also brought my new 12 ft. Ocean Master. I had live Bluegill on 2 and cut on the long one. With the long one I was able to get the distance I needed to get out into the main runoff channel. First fish came on a small piece of bluegill with the gut pocket. It was to my amazement a 12 lb. Flathead. Nice one to break the cherry of my new rig. 2nd fish I caught on a the head of a small bluegill. When he hit I thought he was smaller than the first one cause the first one was a real drag burner on the hookset. This one pretty much came right to me for about the first 3/4 of the way. Then it was like he realized he was hooked and went ballistic 15 ft. off the bank. When I got him up close enough to see him rear his head I noticed he was hooked by a thread of skin underneath a whisker in the corner of the mouth. I used extreme caution netting him. He went 23 lb. Both fish were released in perfect condition . Who would've thought I'd catch 2 in daylight and on cut bait??? Who cares though I'll gladly take it how I can get it!

congrats on the slump busters brother. dont be surprised at the cut bait in the day bud. we find them preferring cut in the daytime most days! i believe they are more inactive in daytime then at night and are more apt to hit fresh cut when they are like that.

    again nice fish brother: tim
