My trip on fri. got cancelled and I was sort of bummed out. Dad and I decided to take the boat out and try for some channels today. Caught a 1/2 lb channel and this guy. He hit @ 3 PM on a fresh, dead shad bellow a float. 40 lbs even.

Congrats,Nice fish. I still hope to get at least a 20# this year. I haven't been able to get to any real good flathead water. Gas prices are killing me!!!

Hell yeah nice fish. How deep do you fish with your float.

They're killing me too. There's a lot of waters within a 50 mi drive that I'd like to fish, but..... pulling a boat gets expensive:angry:

Nice catch Jason, thanks for sharing. My P/B is only about 12 lbs on a rod and reel. But I never give up! LOL

First flat I ever caught was 5 lb. I've even caught one that was about 8 inches long on crawlers. Never seen one that small. He was actually kinda cute... but I also think bulldogs are cute, so... Anyway, you can find answers to about any question you can come up with on this site. Keep researching and keep fishing, you'll get a big one in no time:big_smile:

Thats a real nice fish and I am sure you had fun catching it.
I only hope you were gentle when you released it.
