Golden eye?

    My girlfreind caught a golden eye( looks like a skipjack,but with BIG gold eyes),we freeze the skippies for future use so we threw this in with em.Are they a good cut bait ,and whats the best way to cut them ? other than with a knife, fillet, chunk heads, etc.?thanks for the help and good cattin to ya

    i have never seen one except for in pictures, but they seem to really like them up north. i would imagine you'd cut them like skippies or shad.

    The goldeye is the most commonly used bait up here for our huge channel cats. Usually cut up into 1-2" steaks. The head is probably my favorite part and always seems to catch the bigger fish. The tails usually don't produce well.

    Some of us here on the lower Ohio river have had good sucess with mooneyes which would be the cousin to the goldeye. So I would say they should be good bait there as well.
