I'm headed to the Mo this weekend, it's only 250 miles from my place lol. Here's a random part of the river, I can check depths when i get there with a smartcast but just by looking at this example pic what would you guys predict as being the most promising spot? It's a long asp drive for me so I've got to speed up this learning process:moon:

Being that I never fish the Mo before - if I was going there & those 6 spots were my the spots that I was going to fish - I would try spot #3 - it looks like an area that will hold them by it being a perfect ambush point & that little back-water area (just to the right of it) looks like an area that would hold some gills.

But what ever one you fish Buddy - "Good Luck To You"!!!

That makes sense, thanks Bert. I'll keep an eye out for those types of situations. 3 is easiest one to get to also. This place is right near Brawley I think, I didnt mark it on the GPS because my Tomtom is already full to capacity with other spots like this I've marked lol.

I fished spot 3 before if its the area I think it is. Also don't shy away from riding up and down the dirt roads. You may want to hit up team760 he lives right there in Westmorland and Alamo is about 5-7 miles from his house. Also Mangles hits it up regularly as well. They go an a lot of weekends and are good sources for information as they know the Mo.

Just picked up a 7'6" Catmaxx and shimano baitrunner 12000d a couple weeks ago. I've been using 30lb mono but I know I need to get something stronger.
You will need braid for the Mo. If using mono I would go 40 plus. However I like using the mono as a leader and the braid as the main line on the Mo.

Hey Bro, I Would Forget About Spots 1,2,4,5, And 6. Spot 3 Is Where You Want To Be. You Should Set 1 Line In Front Of Those Bushes And 1 Line Right At The Canal Mouth. That Canal Dumping In Probably Has Bait In It And After Dark Flatheads Will Be Moving Into It Looking For Food. Be Quiet, Be Patient, And You Will Catch Flatheads. Another Thing To Consider, Those Images Are 5 Years Old. You Should Get Down There Before Dark And Get Familiar With The Area. Also It Is Supposed To Be 110 Degrees Or So For Daytime Temps, Bring Plenty Of Water. I'll Be Down There Tommorow Night, I'll Post A Report On Thurs.

Yeah Brian I was thinking 40lb mono minimum, I think it was actually one of your posts that got me thinking about that this week. Thanks for the input. I didn't even think to check the date on those sat. images lol, thanks Jim. I bet a lot can change in 5 years. Very helpfull info. I like to use a baby monitor hung next to my reels while I sit in the car with A/C and movies on the iphone. Is that cheating? Haha I tried it out last weekend and it worked really well. I just put the car a three to four second dash away from the rods so the engine noise doesn't spook them. C&R of course.

Wow, that's just sad

But, during daylight, it isn't very likely you'll get something, instead what I suggest is, go out, explore the river, look for spots, if you see a small pool, try for bait, it's what I do, once daylight comes, at around 8am, I pack up and start to explore for the rest of the day, up until about 6pm, I start to unpack and settle down for the night

Indeed, I'm just going to bust the baby monitor out when I go somewhere solo. I was planning on getting out there in the morning and checking out potential spots all day. I appreciate all the input, should be an awesome weekend. :moon:

I Actually Scouted That Spot A Couple Years Ago. The Dirt Road Leading To That Spot Is Soft And There Were Weeds On The Road That Were 2 Feet High. When You Fish The Alamo, You Should Always Bring A Shovel And Pruning Shears.

Spot #3 was way too close to town so we headed a ways south to a drop. I didnt research where to catch bait so I only had 5 bluegills, that sucked. I managed to get a 3lb and 7.5lb before running out of bait though. Not too bad :handshake:
