I've got my boat ripped apart and foam and epoxy on the way to re-deck it and add some flotation. Also going to make it center console and add some storage. It's a 20' Lowe jon.

The old school part comes in in the decking. I was thinking about various materials and I think I'm going to use 1 x 6's and make it a "plank" deck. I'm going to repaint the sides and exterior, but for the deck I'm just going to lay the clear epoxy over the planks and leave it the natural wood color. The epoxy isn't the most UV resistant, but I mostly fish at night and I'll leave it covered when I'm not fishing. Should look like an old sailing ship deck when I'm done with it and I don't think I'll pay much more (if any) of a penalty in weight over using laminated 3/8 plywood. And if I do, it will be worth it to have a cool looking deck!

    Merry Christmas!
