For channels cut up chunks of baitfish. I prefer shad and Goldeye. As Arlington said peices with guts are great. Those are the ones I seem to have the best hits on.

arlington, chiver is just one out of a batch of chivers. lol Seriously I have no idea what it is unless it is supposed to be livers. Sometimes I get to typing so fast I can't keep up and the end result looks like a sour bunch of chivers. Never mind, I'm done, the devil made me do it. lol :tounge_out:

I am a very firm believer in shad gizzards (guts) for channels and blues in any water. If on a river or creek, helgramites are an excellent choice.

Shrimp works for me when things are slow but they must be fresh.

If im just after catching some fish and not worrying about size (when the flatty's aint bitting), Sonny's or DK Punch Bait... Hard to beat in these parts for just putting fish in the boat.. I don't catch many Large ones, but the bites do come quickly... Sonny's/DK's under a bobber can keep ya pretty busy heh...

If im wanting bigger channels and I happen to pack it, Shrimp under a bobber pushed up next to a long jam is very deadly....hehe, guess im a big fan of channel catting with a bobber when im not chasing flatheads..

when nothing else works go to worms... or liver... both are what i carry with me for my tournies just in case shad isn't producing blues...

I saw two guys in a small boat last night using shad about 2 inches long. They just caught them on a casting net and headed out. When they got back a few hours later their boat was literally FULL of cats....some in the 10 to 12 pound range. It was pretty impressive to see that kind of numbers.

Well... I am cheap when it comes to spending money for bait, so I use cut or live bait from whatever waters I am fishing. I usually bring a throw net and an ultralight just for catching bait.
