I'm interested in possibly adding glow sticks to my fishing tackle.
Never used them before. I did see a guy have one fixed to the tip of his fishing rod one night at oakland mills dam.
    Worked pretty well I think.
I've read about fixing them to bobbers. How do you hold them on a bobber?
So how long a glow stick do you need?
    I value you guys opinions.
    Tell me about your experiences.
    thanks
    just

if you get your bobbers from wolfman he sells the glow sticks with them and they have a hole in the top to just push them into the bobber.ive used them and have caught several large fish on them so i recimend them.he also has the cheepest glo sticks ive found.

Gene definatly has a great deal on his products. Those Kat Bobbers have a hole for the glow stick already in em. Can't beat the prices either.

So how do you fix an 8" glow stick to your rod?

I would think just some electrical tape correct?

    Yes, I use electrical tape.

Big Eli was using those braces rubber bands this weekend and they worked nice. Just throw em on the end of the line before you line the pole. You get no gooey mess that way.

Thanks for all the replys guys.
However I would think an 8 inch glow stick as a night time strike indicator would be kinda over kill wouldn't it?
The one the guy had at Oakland that night was probably 1 1/2 inches long. You could easily see it but it wasn't overpowering.I think I've seen them at Wal Mart.

Well, you can get those ones that are 1.5" long at Wal-Mart for about $1 a piece.

Gene sells a box of 100 for $16.75 shipped or .17 a piece.

Just a heads up, a better deal for bigger glow sticks.

I use the 8 inch sticks from Wild Wolf all the time. On a cigar float I just use clear tape to hold them on, on a rod I use the connectors that come with the tube of glowsticks. Just take a small piece of wire, run it through the connector, place the glow stick in the connector, bend a hook in the wire and hook it either in one of the legs on a rod guide or just over the rod.

Check out the sponsers link on the home page for Gene "Wild wolf Products". I just ordered 200 on thursday and had them on Monday!! I attach mine with zip ties at the end of the rod and on a float. Just make sure the glow stick and the zip tie latch are on opposite side of the rod as your line to prevent backlashes and fraying your line. Really helps at night to keep the bugs away by not using any lights. Besides it is really cool to watch the glow stick dive towards the water!!!!

i use the 2 inch ones from wally world. they work great and you can detect strikes better than with the long ones. make sure you get the ones in the black package, not the green package. the green package doesnt seem to be as bright and doesnt last nearly as long. the ones in the black package last all night and stay pretty bright. hope this helps.
