I have thrown thousands of nets on multiple lakes. The one lake where the gizzies are constantly bigger on average is Lake Lanier in Georgia. The average gizzie I pull out of there is 15-20 inches long. I've pulled an occasional big one out of several lakes but Lanier produces these monsters constantly. Is there another lake out there that produces the same or even larger gizzies than that that you've been on?

on the red river below lake texoma i have caught gizzards to 23 inches. they make excellent cutbait at that size. i had a big pond i used to catch them at here and 20 inches was the biggest there. at other lakes in this area, 9 to 10 inches is the biggest i catch.

here in texas the biggest i ever caught in one of our lakes was a 15 inch shad, and that was considered pretty big.
