I know a lot of guides on the James River use gill nets to catch large shad for bait. I am trying to make up a net myself. It is 50ft/4ft. I will use float line on top and use leaded core line on the bottom to make it hang streight. I will use large floats on the top ends and a brick on the bottom corners to hold it in place. I have a friend who used a $100+ gill net for one day. He thinks a big cat ran into it and carred it off. Any ideas on how to prevent this?????
