alright. Thanks for the help fellas. Hoping to try the lake for the first time this weekend. Its been a month or so since I've been after the cats so i figured i would take a break from working on the car and see what i can catch.

Well... I went out to Buggs for the first time. Put in at the mouth of the stanton and the dan rivers. Everything that could happen, happened. Battery went bad, couldn't catch any bait(only a couple shad and like 3 gills), my damn parking pass for the rear view mirror flew out the window on the way to get some night crawlers so i had to buy another one. On top of it all we didn't catch anything but about 6 dinks. Also there is something killing the carp. I'll bet i counted over 150 carp(5-20lbers) from saturday evening to sunday morning.
The place wreaked of dead fish and they were everwhere. Did anyone else have any luck?

....Aguaman and I were on the Potomac a few weeks ago and we also witnessed a bunch of large dead carp in Mattowoman Creek.

The concern over all the dead carp got alot of calls the the state biologist. What I was told by a reputable source, that the biologist had said it was a carp disease that effects carp approx every 10 yrs but does not effect any other species. Kind of makes sense since there are no signs of any other species floating.

Jeremy, they shouldn't have charged you for the replacement pass?? I heard the same thing about the carp, Still hard for me to believe. It couldn't be as bad as the shad kill this winter (milloins died)

The carp situation is pretty sad. The thing with the parking pass was that didn't want to get a ticket for them not seeing a tag hanging on the rear view so i put another $4 in the vault and got another tag for the mirror. It doesnt really bother me that bad that i had to pay twice becuase its just a couple more dollars to help keep the place nice for everyone to use.

That's really odd about the carp. I was out at a lake in SE NC and saw quite a few dead carp and I wondered what was going on. Wonder if it could be the same thing?
