Gila river/buckeye

    Howdee,has anyone fished the Gila River near Buckeye off highway85? I was told theres channel cat but I can't find any info online about this stretch of water. Thanks, J.T.

    I have done some bass fishing there, and I have seen one small channel accidently caught on a plastic worm. I made one serious attempt to catfish there with some cutbait, and I couldn't keep the softshell turtles off my hook.

    Hey James. I live 1/2 mile from the river there are quite a few spots along the stretch between Jackrabbit Trail and Hwy. 85 most require a 4x4 to get to. I've seen a few decent channels taken out of there. They recommend you don't eat any fish caught from the Gila.
