I have always wanted to take a Gulf Charter trip, but have kept putting it off for one reason or other. Well Saturday a friend in Columbus Ohio called and ask if I wanted to go. Without hesitation I said yes. We leave Tuesday and drive down to Biloxi Miss. Going fish the beaches and piers until Friday and then get on a charter and go out in the gulf for an all day trip. I really don't know what we will even fish for yet. I will take the laptop and if I catch anything big I will post it up Friday night. I guess we will probably also hit a couple of the casinos and seafood joints while there.

If you get a chance go fishing with Capt Matt at Shore Thing. You can cross the MS Sound into Louisiana marsh and load up on reds and trout. Maybe even a triple tail or two on the way back in.

Muuuuuuuuch better fishing than on the beach. LA has much higher limits, too.

I fished with him a couple of months ago and was very impressed. He is young, enthusiastic, and a great fisherman (even though I showed him a new trick). I had to cancel a trip since then because my wife and daughter got hit in a bad car crash the day before we were supposed to go but we're going again in the next few weeks.

His number is (228) 215-7009. Tell him Thad from Hattiesburg sent ya.
If you want to split a trip I'm down with that, too.

John, you're gonna have a blast. I hope you get into a bunch of reds & trout. Have a safe one! I can't wait to get to go back to Grand Isle again; we loaded up on trout while there 2 years ago, just fishing from the docks. And my husband caught a big ole redfish; his first one. He was so excited.
Make lots of pictures & send em to us!

They're both fine. They were bruised and sore but nothing permanent.
A girl hit them in the right front tire, ripped it off, and put the Grand Caravan up on two wheels. My wife kept it out of oncoming traffic and got it across two lanes on two wheels and skidded it into the ditch without hitting anyone.

I told her I'm gonna put her in Nascar.

Slatebar- Offshore would be either king mackeral, cobia, sharks, etc. around the islands or grouper, triggers, amberjack around the rigs unless you're going overnight for tuna.

The beaches and piers hold a few specks, but you really need a boat to have much of a chance at size and numbers. Most serious fishermen run across the sound into LA waters. It's a 10 mile run SSE from Lakeshore.

If you want to try along the beach wading with topwaters at first light is your best bet. Too much work for me! :cool2:
