I hear there are some monster shad in Lake Reidsville in NC. Some closer in size to small panfish. How big have you guys seen them get?

American shad that come in from the ocean up some rivers in s.c. to spawn get up to around 6 lbs. they are a blast to catch on light tackle and small jigs. also make great cut bait.

he have hickory shad here in lake hartwell the dnr says it is the only lake they are in. they were put in there a few yrs back to knock down the herring population because they thought they would all die off but they were able to spawn. we catch them with small minnows when crappie fishing. they are a blast on light tackle.
