I have found a place that does just about any camo pattern you could want and even two types of snake skin patterns, He uses the dipping method that all gun/gear manufacturers use. All I have to do is take the side plates off my Penn reels and send them to him. I am going to get a couple different camo patterns and one snake skin.

Has anybody else thought about doing this?

They are backed up so it will be about a month before they get done. I will post some pics. If interested in doing this send me a PM they only charge $20 per reel, I will be the first reels they have done but I don't think I'll be the last!

Cool idea Steve. Heck yeah! Post some pics of the reel(s) when the chance arrives. I know Abu Garcia has a Camo pattern reel out now. It's different, but I'm kind of partial to the Camo pattern. I would like Mossy Oak 3D or Realtree APG on a reel. To me that would be awesome.

    Here's a page of Abu Garcia's Camo rehttp://www.shopbettys.com/detail.aspx?ID=347el.

that would be pretty awesome to have the reel in blaze orange camo and the rod in black, like a CatMaxx rod or what ever. To me that would be a killer looking combo!! Post some pics and I would be very interested to have a reel or 2 dipped in the camo. sounds cool!!

are your reel sides aluminum??? if so i would think that if they dip them like they do syn stocks and other plastics that it wont last long unless they anodize it?? and then again they probably have different methods for differen t materials!!

They use the same method for everything, the do get all the parts ready for this stuff to work....not sure what it is they do on different materials but it works just as well if not better on metal items.
