i picked up some bait at Geno's Bait shop in Columbus last night. What an incredible resource you guys in that area have. They had anything there you would need (alright, except Daichi hooks) and plenty of it. Make sure you patronize them! Buy it there first! We used to have a baitshop here in Hastings and I tried to check there first for anything I needed, even if I knew I could get it a few cents cheaper at Walmart.

We need to keep these little indepedents going. Hey if you're in the area give them some business. If you're a local and need a bottle of pop... Buy it there! Got some relatives in Columbus on the wife's side. Next time I'm there, I'll do the same.

I'll get off my soapbox now, but I feel strongly about supporting the little guys and specialty folks. Do business with the sponsors here and specialty outfits like Catfish Connection. Cabelas and Bass Pro will always be around, little guys might not!

Great place to go and shoot the breeze. Red was always great about giving out info on places where the big boys were biting!!

i feel the same way about the small guys!!!! even tho the bait shop here the guys about 90
and still float tubing for bass you'd never guess he's that old gonna miss him when he goes!! likes to sell ya bait that doesn't work tells ya they caught it on.... well everything in his store

I still talk to Red on occasion. He closed the bait shop cuz he got tired of all the states BS. Yeah Gino's in Columbus is the bomb. Have stopped in there a few times before I go to the Loop canal in Monroe. Very nice people that run the place.

Too bad he closed, the way I heard it ngpc forced the closure of his bait store cause he refused to use their approved vendors. Don't know the truth in that but wouldn't be surprized.Don't understand why the state gave him such a hard time over where his bait supplies came from. A 15 dollar dealers license should have covered about everything I thought,apparently they wanted him to buy his bait supplies from their sources and he told them to kiss his ass, I would have too!

That's really not a bad price. I got some last year at Tall Tales in Rep city and paid $8 a dozen. Now I don't pay at all. My 2 oldest boys have a secret spot we go to and catch 4 to 5 inch river chub by the handfuls.

actually that is a bad price for chubs....allens or bass pro is hastings sells them pretty cheap at 2.25 a dozen!!!!!! I normally catch mine as well but sometimes its just easier to buy em if your in a hurry...

I love bait and tackle shops, what I don't love is the 500% markup on their gear if I'm buying, and the wild costs of bait I can get myself for free. I just can't afford to throw money around like that for fishing. I just keep it simple and try to catch fish.
