The weekend before last I was on a late night trip down our long hallway to use the head...and stepped on my daughters remote control car in the dark...causing my ankle to go one way...and my knee to go the other.

    Result...either a severe sprain...or a torn ACL.

I have been laid up for 10 days now...and I'm beginning to get cabin fever...I've already went through the new release movies at the video store...watched oodles of documentaries on the Discovery and History channel...conquered all of Europe on the new Medal of Honor Allied Assault X-Box 360 game...set several new NFL records on Madden '08...read all of my new magazines that I have...came up with new and innovative ways to aggravate our Weiner dog and Schitz-Zu...and worked the hell out of my upperbody on the bench press back in my garage. (I've managed to get my benchpress back up to 275....That's all the weight I have...3 reps...and counting...Lol.)... have actually lost 13 lb due to the pain meds making me sick to my stomach and sleeping alot due to them....and have debated everything from FDR...to JFK...to the Israeli Mossaad...to what do you like to eat and what kind of cell phone do you use...on the message boards.

I've been keeping my leg elevated...and walking on crutches when I go anywhere that involves alot of walking....I even used the motorized sit down cart at Super Wal-Mart...Lol.

Which on a side note...it's amazing how rude people are to someone in one of those things...they won't even make an effort to get the hell out of the way...as they would if you were pushing a cart...I got to where I was ramming people before I got out of there....I needed to get out...before the cops were called...Lol.

I sometimes have a problem with playing nice with the other kids...

I actually walk better now...I can go in a straight line...with a slight limp...but any side to side motion causes my knee to collapse...and there is a popping and grinding noise when i try to bend it.

I called up my human resources manager at work to see if I could come back to work tonite...he said he'd rather me stay off until I go to the Orthopedic Surgeon...GULP!...on Thursday to see what he has to say about it.

Oh well...at least tonite Monday Night Football is on!!

Did ya ever make it to the can that night Brian? If you got noise in there, stabilize that knee as much as possible before you get to that Orthopod. Don't chase Momma down the hall.

LOL...there wasn't a need to make it to the can after that I stepped on that damn toy car!! :embarassed: (J/k...I didn't actually pi$$ myself...Lol.)

It's amazing how fast things can change...priority one WAS going to the bathroom...it quickly became the need to roll around on the floor holding my knee after that.

    Well....

I went to my long awaited appointment with the Orthapedic specialist today.

I had alot of confidence going there today...my knee is getting stronger everyday...and I was SURE there was nothing that would stop me from being released back to work tonite.

We went through the typical examination...he was poking and prodding around my knee...and found a couple of tender spots that hurt when he pressed...but nothing excruciating.

But then he told me to lie down...first he told me to raise my leg....then he took my leg and pulled outwards on it...no big deal...didn't hurt at all...but then he twisted inwards with it...OMG!!!!

It felt like someone took a ballpeen hammer and cracked me in the side of the knee!!!

I also got a pain that ran up and down my entire leg...not unlike electricity...but I don't mean like 110v electricity that just grabs ya...I mean like 220v that says...KA-POW!!!

The diagnosis is a torn MCL instead of ACL...and ligament damage within my knee as well.

He says there is a possibility that this will heal up on its own...given how much better it is now Vs. how it was when it first happened.

But the MCL will not re-attach itself...and next time it'll be easier to re-injure it...and it'll probably be much worse as well.

I go back in two weeks to follow-up....he says if it's not bothering me by then...we'll let it go.

But if it's still bothering me when he twists my knee again like he did today...we'll do an MRI...and most likely we'll be scheduling surgery. :eek:oooh:

I need to be careful not to re-aggravate it...like I've already done twice in the last week.

In other words...watch where I step...and how I step...and for God's sake....TURN ON the light in the hallway from now on...Lol.

I was disappointed that I couldn't go back to work today...as the bills are still not getting paid...but he put it into perspective for me.

He said he understood that I'm hurting financially after almost 2 weeks off...but how would I like it if I went ahead and made this a full tear...and did further damage inside my knee?

I'd be off for 6-8 months then...and probably would never be the same.

    Ummm...ok doc...I understand. :embarassed:

He told me I could go back to work sunday nite...but if it became painful...I'm to call him...and he'll see me immediately.

    Good enuff!!

I'm back in business sunday at least.
