Well, I think that the flatheads are finally coming back to life on the Gasconade. Fishing was pretty good this weekend. I caught 7 channel cats (kept 6) and caught 2 flatheads, one about 4# and one about 6# (kept 0) channel cats were caught on catalpa worms, and the flatties were bagged with nitecrawlers. Good weather, good river levels, and flatheads.
And Saturday we caught a mess of crawdads. Saturday evening's supper was frog legs from opening weekend, and fresh crawdads.
My 5 year old grandson was with me through it all...doesn't get much better than that.

Sounds like a great time to me.
Where do you fish the Gasconade?

I fish the river about 6 miles downstream from the Highway 50 crossing. Sorry about the slow reply....got back from the river and network was down. It is a good stretch, minimal boat traffic, and lots of good water. Better have a jet though, lots of shallow spots.
