Was cleaning out my garage today and I came across what must be one of my "Ol' Man's" deep sea reels. A Penn Senator 113 H 4/0. Kinda like the photo but it looks like an older model- all metal parts. Good reel for flaties?

Lake Pleasant is published and available. I've just finished my latest, The Verde River: Bartlett and Horseshoe Dams , which will be out in 2010.

    Thanks for asking!

I use a Penn 209 with a Rhino kevlar medium heavy rod for my flathead rig. Works awesome!!! That reel is a winch!!!
    You'll love that reel.

Barnes and Noble or Borders, in the Arizona section, or the Arcadia Publishing display- or just order from Amazon

    Hi Gerry,
One thing that is nice about that reel is the line capacity... You can use whatever you want...

    * But what you use depends on what type of flat head fishing you are doing..

~ Are you fishing around big rocks "like at Bartlet dam area"? If so, I would recommend a stout mono for the abrasion resistance.

~ All other flatty fishing, I would stick with 80# + braid...

    Take care~
