Gar for Catfish bait?

    Has anyone heard of using cut pieces of gar for bait? I heard a few guys around here talking about it. they say it produces a lot of oil scent in the water. Input? just wandering

    Yes I have and it does work so does Mudfish as well. Both of them are very good for bait.

    Gar eggs are the best bait for spring channel and blues IMO. When the gar spawning run is going on the cats will hardly bite anything else around here.

    I'll have to try it sometime then. I can catch a ton of gar in the little miami river near where I live.
