In the early 1980's my boys were small and in grade school. On Good
Friday they were to bring 4 hard boiled dyed Easter eggs for their class
Easter egg hunt. Times were hard for my family as it is with most young
families. We had banty chickens. Banty chickens lay like there is no
tomorrow. The days right before payday we ate a lot of eggs and egg
salad sandwiches. My boys did not want to take banty eggs they wanted
hen eggs like everyone else. My wife was going to town to get them their
eggs and I said NO (like daddies have to do sometimes). I could not see
driving to town and buying eggs when we had dozens of eggs already.
My wife and children dyed the banty eggs and they took them to school
the next day embarrassed of there size. Guess what happened. The kids
and the Teachers loved the banty eggs. My boys were the most popular
kids in school. The other kids were trading my boys 3 hen eggs for one
banty egg. I still get a chuckle out of this and I thought Yall might enjoy
it too. HAVE A HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE.

I love banty chickens, I think their eggs make the cutest deviled eggs. Thanks for sharing your Easter story.

Wonderful story. What a great reminder that we all so easily develop a "grass is greener" mentally and forget how really blessed we are.

Thanks for the story. Those banty eggs make the best pie crust, more yolk and less whites.

Great story, Dad has to put his foot down sometimes. It all worked out in the end, Dad knows best anyway.
