    hi there,

    have a silly question.

have a 50hp merc, 1977. I am doing some upgrades on boat and motor and am wondering about the fuel system. can I put in a hard mount tank or do I need to use the 6 gal. tanks? this the fuel tank with the bulb to prime the motor. Thanks!

You can add a hard mount tank but you will still need the primer bulb.
Be sure to add a water seperator filter system. I use one on all fuel tanks, regardless if permenant or portable..

thanks for the info, makes the selection of a hard mount tank a bit easier.

    thanks again.

Yes you can use a solid tank, I use a 18 gal for my pontoon. Mounted it
under the rear seat. I also added a fuel guage, makes nice to know how
much gas you have. As mentioned you need the primer bulb, be sure to
vent the tank so it can breath. I also installed a water seperator with a
replaceable filter, a little pricey but well worth the investment.
