That would be nice. The wife handles all of the buying though, so I have no clue what prices are now. :smile2:

I don't think it was the reason prices went up.
    Fear did that.
You'll see prices stay up for a while.
    Have a good one

The main influence is the market. Understanding how markets work is key.
Any market can only support a certain amount of "price" of goods.

    For instance, my simple analogy.
You make the best lemonade in the world and sell it only on weekends.
You lines are wrapped around the block to get em some. A deal at 2 bucks a cup.
But you want to make more for your product and the best way to do that is to cut the supply and up the price.
Instead of the 2 55 gallon drums of lemonade you usually come to work with you cut it to a straight 55 gallons and double the price.
You sell out making larger profits and using half the product.
After a few weeks of that you decide I only want to work 1/2 a day on Saturday and keep the profits high.
You cut the product to 3 5 gallon buckets and double the price again.
The lines get shorter and shorter in the subsequent Saturdays.

You have reached the point of what the market can bear.
To bring the profits back around all you can do is supply more product and drop the price.
What we have been enduring as of late is caused directly by a false shortage.
If you keep up with the world news on a day to day basis you have no doubt come across many articles that inform you that OPEC has cut its production by a million barrels of oil a day. You have seen where the president has begged them to increase production.
When they do that over and over they are removing oil from the world market creating a false shortage and alot of speculation which raises the price.

All the more reason for us to drill and put our oil on the world market to bear.
It would reduce the manipulation capabilities of the oil cartels.
Some argue against drilling because the oil might not remain here.
It doesnt need to. Oil is a world commodity. Your car dont know the difference inbetween Saudi oil or Alaskan oil.
What matters is when OPEC says ok world we are cutting production by 1 million barrels it will have less of an impact on world oil prices because more oil is available to market from other sources. They would have to cut more and more to impact the market slitting their own throats on profits because they are producing less and less to make profits on.

The whole object is to strip the power of manipulating these markets from OPEC nations.
The only oil shortage there is the one thats been falsely generated.

The market has corrected itself just like your lemonade stand would have to do in order to maintain some level of profitability.

The damage is done. Inflation hit, record profits. Price of products aint coming down much, unless you catch a JC penny's sale. LOL
No excuse's for that other than ..........................................greed
Many predicted up and then down a little but not where it should be. Best take the good cause it could be worse. its election time. money has been made and we are in the middle of bailout's

$2.79 at my spot. Better than 4 but not as good as 1.50

I think accountability needs done for the racking America across the coals.

Fear didn't raise price, it was greed and Americans supporting both sides of the war with our wallets.

It sure was greed but it didnt come from where you are insinuating.
It was OPEC greed. Exxon mobile has to buy a barrel of oil just like you and I would.
To think anything else is pure ignorance. You need to stay in tune with what is going on in the world and better yet understand markets and who is supplying who.
The democrat congress has failed to find where the oil companies were soaking us. Failed because they werent. They passed on the cost of oil to the consumer. I wouldnt expect any less of them to do so anymore then I would expect you to operate at cost or a loss.

    DEMOCRATIC
    You have two cows.
    Your neighbor has none.
You feel guilty for being successful.
    Barbara Streisand sings for you.

    REPUBLICAN
    You have two cows.
    Your neighbor has none.
    So?

    SOCIALIST
    You have two cows.
The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor.
You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow.

    COMMUNIST
    You have two cows.
The government seizes both and provides you with milk.
You wait in line for hours to get it.
    It is expensive and sour.

    CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE
    You have two cows.
You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.

    BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE
    You have two cows.
Under the new farm program the government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain.

    AMERICAN CORPORATION
    You have two cows.
You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one.
You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you have downsized and are reducing expenses.
    Your stock goes up.

    FRENCH CORPORATION
    You have two cows.
You go on strike because you want three cows.
You go to lunch and drink wine.
    Life is good.

    JAPANESE CORPORATION
    You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk.
They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains.
Most are at the top of their class at cow school.

    GERMAN CORPORATION
    You have two cows.
You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour.
Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.

    ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows but you don't know where they are.
While ambling around, you see a beautiful woman.
    You break for lunch.
    Life is good.

    RUSSIAN CORPORATION
    You have two cows.
    You have some vodka.
You count them and learn you have five cows.
    You have some more vodka.
You count them again and learn you have 42 cows.
The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have.

    TALIBAN CORPORATION
You have all the cows in Afghanistan, which are two.
You don't milk them because you cannot touch any creature's private parts.
You get a $40 million grant from the US government to find alternatives to milk production but use the money to buy weapons.

    IRAQI CORPORATION
    You have two cows.
    They go into hiding.
They send radio tapes of their mooing.

    POLISH CORPORATION
    You have two bulls.
Employees are regularly maimed and killed attempting to milk them.

    BELGIAN CORPORATION
    You have one cow.
    The cow is schizophrenic.
Sometimes the cow thinks he's French, other times he's Flemish.
The Flemish cow won't share with the French cow.
The French cow wants control of the Flemish cow's milk.
The cow asks permission to be cut in half.
    The cow dies happy.

    FLORIDA CORPORATION
You have a black cow and a brown cow.
Everyone votes for the best looking one.
Some of the people who actually like the brown one best accidentally vote for the black one.
    Some people vote for both.
    Some people vote for neither.
Some people can't figure out how to vote at all.
Finally, a bunch of guys from out-of-state tell you which one you think is the best-looking cow.

    CALIFORNIA CORPORATION
    You have millions of cows.
    They make real California cheese.
    Only five speak English.
    Most are illegal's.
Arnold likes the ones with the big udders

Yes it was and I understand more than what you are selling. I may not be the sharpest knife in the draw when it comes to greed but I do got a clue.
I was waiting for you to bring in the democrat congress , but why leave out the libs. OPEC, LOL . The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a cartel of thirteen countries made up of Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. The organization has maintained its headquarters in Vienna since 1965,and hosts regular
meetings among the oil ministers of its Member Countries.
    I dont know.

Layman terms, "The democrat congress has failed to find where the oil companies were soaking us. Failed because they werent. "
OK Mark what ever you say, , LMAO. Are you soaked in a sand pile. Ask 90% of Americans and see what they say.
Remember there are 300mil Americans. We have , last I looked 24K members , less if you count who is active. Real life polls speak for themselves.

But, this is something we agree on. Your little saying
    " Shoooot, I'm the world's best back-words driver."

Dano, lets base this discussion on facts not public opinion.
The people in power mind you the anti corporation people in power that would love to burn oil company ass failed to find any evidence that they were screwing you or me.

OPEC was screwing you and me and OPEC is out of their jurisdiction.

Did you ever do a google on the history of polling accuracy?
It's record of accuracy is bismal at best.
