I fish Ft. yargo a good bit. I have caught some nice Channels there. It is a nice quiet lake to fish because of the 10hp limits on boat motors. If you fish from the bank around the picnic areas you'll need a reel that you can cast a good distance to get to water that is deep enough for the catfish. I have caught several 2 and 3 lb. channels. Good luck.

Don't do it, Paul...I heard hotdogs on a freshwater boat are as bad as a banana on a saltwater boat...

Tony, I used to fish the picnic area for bream several years back...You're right about the depth... I heard a year or 2 ago that a Marine home on leave from Iraq had a Saturday morning to fish, went to the bridge at the boat ramp and caught a really big one (for Yargo)...

The bridge area is also a good place to fish. Its alot easier to get in deeper water. There seem to be a lot more foot traffic in that area on the weekends but I would think its a good place to fish. I have walked all the way around this lake and for some reason I haven't fished that area although I have see a lot of folks fishing there.
I haven't heard that story about the large catfish but it wouldn't surprise me. I have started using heavier fishing equip while fishing there because I do think there are larger fish.
Good luck!!!
