On my mercury 25 horse one cold 19 deg morning the cable seemed stuck it would just idle and i pushed on it real hard all morning just to get some speed out of it as it warmed that morning it freed up and the last few trips its hard to start and bogs if i try to go hard and bogs in rev .it seems ok at higher rpm. I changed the spark plugs and dumped the fuel tank drained the bowl, their was'nt any trash in it i always run stabil fuel conditioner and the boat never sits it gets to the lake almost every weekend . Could i have stretched the cable's and it be out of adjustment or the low speed circuit of the carb be gummed or have some debris.

Take the cable loose from the motor with some one at the helm and engage said throttle and that will tell you if its strtched or not. I would say it is because those things are rather easy at times to stretch
