This a pretty good simple little tip. What you do is get some like 2-liter
coca-cola bottles and freeze them. And then you can use them to put on your bait. Works good because regular ice, (after it melts) leaves water on your bait. And you dont want your bait to be soaking in water, because that takes alot of the freshness you want out of it. Like the scent, and the blood.
Trust me makes a big difference! Because alot of times I catch bait on one fishing trip and then take good care of it and use it for 2-3 more days.

Hope this helps, good luck !!! :)

I do that all the time.I'm too cheap to buy bottled water, but my daughter does all the time.I clean the empties and refill them about 3/4 the way full.Keeps the beer cold also :p :p

Also is nice to have ice water on those hot summer days, and some clean water to wash up with.

It just was relayed to me from a commerical fisherman, that if you add
KOSHER SALT to your ice to preserve your catch,it will last longer than
regular ice,it turns to slush,if your fish are filleted just put them in the
slush,it not only lasts longer, but as well it begins the preserving process,
you then take them out of the slush, rinse them off and they are ready
to vacaum seal for the freezer.man you learn something every day,and
i want to add, this came to me via a BOC member.

    Your Right Katmaster Jr.,

I do that all of the time and I don't have a mess in the cooler after a fishing trip.

My Grandfather show me that many moons ago. - LOL
And I still use it today because "It Works".

    Thanks for sharing!

I've always froze coke bottles full of water too.

I will put one on the front of my 4 wheeler and as it melts down I've got cold water to drink.

Another thing that happened recently when Hurricane Rita ravaged our area it knocked the electric lines down for miles.

My freezer was still cold and (mostly) frozen a week later when I finally got around to cleaning it out.
(I had a bunch of them bottles in there)

Yeah, only problem is if you dont have a deep freezer you dont really have enough room for the ice bottles. But it diffently helps alot. Saves some money, time, and works better than regular ice !!!

You take it easy too man, and good luck !!! :)

I've used the frozen soda jugs of water for years, and never bothered to take drinks along, because the melting ice provided cold water.

Yeah it works for having something to drink too. You can freeze them with clean water in them and when they start to melt you'll have ice cold water!
I like them for bait because it saves me from having to spen money buying bags of ice all the time. And it keeps water off my bait.

    good luck :)
