More often than not I will not use all of my goldfish and they usually end up dying. What I do then is freeze them. I was wondering if they were still productive for flathead the second time you use them. I have always thought that the appearence of a full sized uncut goldfish would be enough for a flathead to take. Has anyone cought flathead on second trip dead goldfish?

I freeze all my left-over live bait. However, if I put on a previously frozen goldfish, I almost always cut it or smash it. Don't know why, just started that way. I do prefer frozen gills, suckers, chubs, shiners, and shad over frozen goldfish, and fish them eihter whole or cut.

Just stomp on it and cast it out. I usually use the 4-6" when I can get em.

Same here, 4 to 6 inch range. We can buy 'em by the pound at Wholesale Bait in Hamilton, OH - they have just about anything you could want, or $per each at Mary & Clyde's. If you're going, see Mary and if she's has an dead ones frozen she'll usually give them to you if you're buying other bait. I still prefer creek-run bait, though.

If you don't mind, do channels and blues go for goldfish too?
