There is money available to you, no labor, no sales you dont even have to use the phone and it's 100 percent fool proof! The free money comes fom your energy savings. On the average, each household spends 1500 bucks on energy. In the bay area of Calif, in the summer, some homes average 4 to 5 hundred dollars a month! Change or clean the filters in your heating and cooling system. Dirty filters restrict airflow and cause the system to run longer using up energy and wearing itself out. If you got one of them old style thermastats, upgrading to a programable one, that you set to your life style, 78 when home and 85 when away, can save you up to a 100 dollars a year. For every degree above you set your themastat above 72 degrees, you can save 1 to 3 percent. You can save 4 percent by using cold or warm setting on clothes washer and another 5 percent from drying clothes outside or predry them outside and put in dryer for 5 minutes to get wrinkles out. By weather proffing your outlets, doors and windows you can save another 2 percent. Open your doors and windows when it's cool and close it up tight when it gets hot! Celing fans and portable fans are worth there weight in gold when properly used. you can save another 5 percent by putting up awnings, patio covers and solar screens and another 5 to 10 percent by using solar window films on your existing windows. This is one of my favorites. You can save big bucks, up to 75 dollars a year by unplugging all those cell phone and tool chargers when there not in use! I have 4 cell phones and numerous tool chargers in the past that were plugged in 24/7! If you have a wall heater, turn the gas off during the summer and plug the 5 inch vent that has heat from your roof and attic travel down into your house!
Screen savers are nice, but turning that computer off when not using it, just like lights, television, ect. can pay (2% savings) for next years fishing license! Lastly, if your air conditioner or refrigerator is over 10 years old consider replacing it with a newer energy efficient models. It will pay for itself!
Pacific Gas and Electric has a some greatresources including a home energy analyzer to help you lower cost in your home and a energy calculator to evaluate your energy cost and evaluate your potential savings! If this saves you money, consider making a donation to the B.O.C. The money will be put to good use!
Have a great summer and be Cool!:cool2:

    Very good tips.
Looks like the country will be getting hot starting this week. We all need to see what we can do to lower our energy consumption.

One tip that I might add is:
It's always cooler near water. Get out of the house and wet a line. You can enjoy fishing while at the same time save on your energy bill!
