My brother in law and I went up around St Marys yesterday and found 32 morels!!! All of them where a little bigger than thumb size. We found them on the edge of the river on a southeast bank where the sun was hitting around some maples in thin spots of the timber. Nothing but elaphant ears down in the timber a litttle deeper. Won't be long now good moisture so it looks like it's gonna be a great season here in ne kansas!!!

Yeh, with this rain we're getting now all we need is 3 or so days in the 70s and they should be everywhere. Did ya find yours on the edges of the timber?

Fixed mine up tonight with some trout fillets from a few weeks back I got at shawnee lake. They were excellent!! These ones weren't big enough to stuff but I'd say by the middle of NEXT week they'll be some big yella ones up! I'll keep posting because I'll probably go once more this week and maybe next sunday also. Don't know for sure might fish Pamona all weekend unless I find fish on sat. Caleb you'll be their on the 28th won't ya?

Whoops!! I mean the 25th - after all it was almost 11 last night when I posted - the whole easter thing wore me out. I had to get on though to check out some info before I ordered my rod holders this a.m. Went to the casino sat. night and won enough to get 6 driftmaster pro duos and nine mounts for the pontoon - sure hope they'll be here in time for the tourney at pamona. Now all I need is to get my anchore situation resolved and find some shad. I think I'm gonna take the flat bottom out tommorow after work and hit some areas. Are ya gonna make it on the 25th?

I have the best when it comes to getting bunches of them.
My Nephew has a bunch every year come up on his place. He likes to pick them but dont like to eat them so he calls everytime he gets a bag full.
Last yr I couldn't hardly eat all he found......

He never has tried them and I alwas tell him that they are not really that good:wink::smile2:

Oh they are worth it....Get down there on your river when it warms up and you should be able to find some.Fry them just like you do your fish you will love them.

Or chop a few up throw them in a pan with a little butter and crack a couple eggs in there and scrample them up.It will make the whole egg taste like a mushroom.

Don't know where that's at but really all up thru that area is good. My brother in law has a bunch of family up there - lots better when ya got private ground to hunt un like topeka area where everyone just hunts everywhere. I have alot of people tell me up around the Delaware is good also - never been - never had to go anywhere else.

Back again - forgot to ask has anyone come up with a good way to save shrooms - best I've heard is coat em' set em' on wax paper and freeze them. Also make sure to put em' in the greese frozen to cook em'. Any input ?

what some of us guys did when we worked for wrights is getflea & tick collars and put around each ankle and get enough to make a belt out of. not 100% but close to it.
