Check these out! The first pic is where I have actually fished before and caught one of my biggest. The other are downstream from it a few hundred yards..

This is actually a large sandbar.. Keep in mind the water is way up right now so a lot of logs aren't visable.

Hey Sangomancat killer. With those pics you have dont you realize you just gave your spots away. Now anybody can just float down your river and start fishing your spots. HeHeHe

Anyway that looks like some real promising water to fish. I have always wanted to fish the sangoman river but never had the chance. Maybe we could get together and do that sometime. I will repay you to a trip to my local lake or to the Miss river at alton.

I've crossed the Sangamon River numerous times on the way to visit family, but from the looks of those pictures, I may just have to stop at the river and fish awhile, looks like primo cat water to me:thumbsup:

Those are some prime areas Brother.Look a lot like the places I fish in my neck of the woods.I really like the high banks too.May be some good holes under the water there.Looks like you just might be pulling some heavy fish out of that structure.
    Good luck.

Man, those look like some really great flathead spots. Especially with some good holes nearby and good current.

Those spots do look good. The river you fish is very similar to the river I fish. Me and my brother found a 16 foot hole the other day with plenty of structure. We fished it twice last week for an hour each. We didn't have the proper bait though. We ended up pulling out four smallmouth bass. I can't wait to fish this in the spring though with the proper bait.

Sometimes we fish on the logs, they really seem to like to follow them most times.. I have had three poles out on one log in a flat and had each bluegill move one at a time in a line as if the flathead was moving along the log. A minute or two later they would move in order again, starting from the other side as if it was coming back the other way. This usually leads to a strike when this is happening.

If not fishing the logs I like those flats right outside of them bigger jams. I have probably caught more in the flats then right up on the logs.
