    (Girth x Girth) x Length) / 800 = weight in pounds
(girth and length are inches) Example: If the fish’s girth is 15 inches and its length is 29 inches, the formula would be used as follows:

    • 15 x 15 x 29, divided by 800 = 8.16 pounds
Then the ".16" or "16/100" is converted to ounces (multiply by 16)
    • .16 x 16 = 2.56 or 3 ounces
so this fish is 8 pounds 3 ounces

That one should have weighed just a hair above 70. I can't give you the formula because I don't have it. I have a chart that was made by using the formula. It is only good for blues.

Chris is correct. There is a formula just for Blue Cats that was created after a long scientific study. I came across it before but cannot find it at the moment. It held to be accurate throughout the range of sizes from small to large.

Part of the formula was the Antilog of something so get your scientific calculators out boys and girls.

You'll have to excuse Jer... He don't get out much and his boat isn't set up for fishing, so he has to read about how everybody else does it... hehehe

One would think I'd be complimented, you know, imitation being the finest form of flattery an all. Somehow though, I expected a bit better quality of groupie.

First off, let's get one thing straight. To his credit, Ryan aint ever going to grow up!

I also have come to the conclusion it is not I that you want to be like, it is both Ryan & Harold. Ryan has been out of work for quite a spell now, hmmm, how long have you been out? Harold has no fishing boat and neither do you. At least Harold has caught a fish, it's been a spell, but at least he has! Not sure you will ever rise up that high. Keep trying.

OLE jer- what is your going rate these days? I sure could of used the big boat last night. I think you just need to get over this debilitating fear of running out of gas and come on out to fish the big water again.

Yes I have the Peter Pan syndrome for sure but I think I have finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up. It has been a long hard search but I believe that I have it figured out now.
