Caught about 5 really good bluegill today that would have been keepers, if I had been in the mood to clean and fix them. But, I chose to release them. Caught them all on a fly rod, using a small yellow popper.

I later started fishing with a quarter ounce jig and pig on a light action spinning rod and caught this redeye. At first I thought I had a "smallie", he was really scrappy. I took a picture of him because he had eyes like I had never seen before on a redeye.

Anyway, I have attached the pic. You can still see the jig and pig in his mouth.

Nothing like fly fishing. It is an art form in the hands of some one that can do it well.

I often use my flyrod to catch Bluegills that I use for Flathead bait. It's like double fun, 1st you get to enjoy catching the gills on the flyrod and then you get to enjoy using them to catch Flatheads!

Just as soon as this weather settles down, I'm off to the lakes with my fly rod for gills. Gotta be a blast.
