Flathead naughty bits

    There have been several questions and answers on here about telling flathead sexes apart. I think I have the idea, but since I was lucky enough to catch a few fish last Saturday, I though I would post a pic of one and see if I am getting it right.

    So....this is a female, right?

    Thing is, I didn't look at every one very closely, but the fish I did "inspect" all seemed to have "two holes" like this one.

    By the way, I'll post the full story of the fishing trip under SC rivers, if anyone's interested.

    During the post spawn the cloaca or "vagina" on a mammal will turn red on a female fish that has spawned.

    you're right if it has an "innie" it a female and if it has an "outie" its a male also female catfish are usually rounder than males and males have bigger heads to protect the eggs during the spawn.
