Flathead Catfish spawning temperature - 75-80 degrees?

    I have always fished the spawn for flats at this time. I was just wondering if flats actually did spawn in 75-80 degree water.

    If you wait for 75 or above you're missing the best bite. The pre-spawn, from 60 to 70 degrees. They are traveling far and wide looking for food and nesting locations. The best time for numbers of fish.

    At the begining of the spawn I hang up my Flathead fishing until mid August. But they seem to turn on nicer when the water cools down to into the high 60s.

    I like the pre-spawn better. Last year it seemed that you would catch Flatheads that looked full of eggs until July. It all depends where you live Flatheads in Texas is probably are already in pre-spawn, while we have atleast another month here in Illinois.

    Dont get me wrong i still fish the river hevily, spawn or not. I would kind of like to take that back. 70-80 degrees
