I'm just curious about everyone's opinion on when it happens. I thought about doing a poll, but I think it would be interesting to get a little more information than a poll could provide. When do you think the spawn happens and what is the general region of Kansas (or elsewhere) you fish in? Also river or lake?

Generally around here the flatheads start spawning mid July through mid August. Every year body of water and every year are different though. Keep in mind not all fish spawn at the same time and some may not spawn at all in any given season.

Mid July is about the time flathead fishing gets a little, well, flat. They don't
all spawn at the same time, but it will get down to just them twos and
fews for about a month. Eater sized channels will take up the slack or you
can look around for new bluegill beds in the SFL nearby. Catch a bunch
of bait for Mister Big when they shake it off during the tail end of the
Dog Days around Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. Tight Lines!
