I created a thread there. I don't typically double-post, but I wanted to share my good news with you all. I caught a 14lb Flathead at Kanopolis Reservoir's outlet. As mentioned in the other thread, it was caught by using a light split-shot weight, and a size 1 hook; I caught the bad-boy using a medium action spin-casting setup with 12lb line. I used worm to catch it.

It's my new personal best as far as catfish goes. I don't know what I was happier about, it being my personal best, or the fact that I finally caught a flathead.

Top it all off, in all the years I fished with my family as a kid at Kanopolis I never saw anybody catch a flathead.... Plenty of wipers, stripers, drum, and channel cat, but never a flathead. Now I can't help but wonder where I can find these flatheads on the lake.

Congrats from a newbie to this site!
Just recently found this website and its great. Do most of my catt'n from kanopolis on downstream. Have been some great flatty's pulled out of that spillway in past years. Havent even ventured up there yet this year because of lack of water releases. Get a nice sized gill or perch and chunk it out there when the water is boiling out and hang on!!.

At one time the state record flathead came from Kanopolis. That was in the early sixties before Ray Wichert(sp)caught the one in the Neosho at Erie. There should be some great flatheads in that lake. Congratulations on your catch.
