I fish on the Kankakee River in Illinois and i was wondering if flatheads feed in or near sandbars. What do you think?

They might cruise the sand bars looking for food on their way to the next hole. I have read that they tend to follow the same "trails" in the water hunting for food if that happens to be on a sandbar your in luck.

90 percent of the flatheads I have caught in my life have come from sandbars, including the one in my avitar.

If there are bait fish on the sand bar the flat Will feed there. One of my best spots is outside the swimming beach in a lake.I have caught flats off sandbars in the river also.

We have caught several on or near sandbars over the years.
