flathead catfish in the sabine

    i got the blue cats down pat on the sabine but i cant get on any flatheads of any size. i know they are thier but i cant seem to get them to bite. anyone got any suggestions?

    you should try using bullheads as bait.
    Try that on several limb lines. Everything but big flats and maybe a few gar will just leave these alone.

    ill give them a try. got a pond thats full of them. i'ed like to find someone thats more familiar with river flats than me. blues are so easy but those flats are a whole nother animal.:eek:oooh:

    I don't know if you'll take this as good news or bad, but bullheads are plenty good bait for blue cats too. In fact, where I fish on the Trinity, I'd say they are just as good (if not better) than cut bait for blues.

    i've caught blues on a bunch of different baits so thats not surprising. i've been looking for a placed lauch my boat on the trinity around palestine but thier doesnt seem to be any good spots. a guy i work with catches the hec k out of flats there.
