How far south will a flathead go on either sections of the fear? I have fished miles up each section of the ne and fear from where they meet by the battleship and was wondering where the flatheads stop. Want to get a poll going to get a consensus on their cut off for salinity levels.

I want to say their max salinity tolerance is 5ppt. I may be off but that's what I remember. Where that line is in the river will depend on a LOT of factors. Rain, tide strength, time of year, ect. It really depends. I'd say that when you start seeing live freshwater plants and stop seeing saltwater vegetation that's where you would be safe to start.

it is pretty crazy how quickly the change from marsh to cypress and lily pads occur. it is like the trees explode out of the ground and the marshes simply cease.
