I fish a spillway at my a Allatoona lake in Ga. The lake has flatheads. My question is say if the depth is about 15 to 20 feet deep. If i fish a float rig with a bluegill at around 5 to 6 feet. Will the flatheads come up from bottom to get that or do i need to put the bluegill on the bottom.

I fish for flathead in a dam outlet here. the water is 35 ft deep. I set my bait depth at 22 ft .the flats will come up to get the bait.I would try different Depth's until I find where they want to bite.

Like dafin said you are probably going to have to try a different depth or two but I would shoot for 10 to 12 feet in 15 to 20 foot water.
