If you are fortunate enough to get ya one of these don't hesitate to steak it up and get it out there. It won't come off the hook unless you cut it off. LOL! One of the best baits I have ever fished with. Many of you have read my posts and threads preachin EEL! LOL!

George if I could get em I would fish with them. I am on the hunt for any place in NC that has them. I have even found an eel farm here in NC but of course they don't sell to the public. I have put out pots and came up with a big ZERO, so when I find either a dealer are a good hole for them I am in like Flynn.

Most of my success with catchin em has come from rock piles and old collapsed piers. A tough one to target. My river is plentifull with them and I know the James river is full of em. They migrate from salt water into rivers to the best of my knowledge.

Good point Dave. They are excellant live for stripers. Use em about 8 to 10 inches long here in Jersey. Gotta have patience and give em that few extra seconds to gobble em down. Kinda like suckin in that strand of spaghetti. LOL!

I caught one of those things on the Mississippi about 40 years ago and I still remember how hard it was to get the slime off my hands. True, it was like super glue that wouldn't dry. Wish I'd have tried it for bait but I couldn't wait to get it out of my boat! If I ever catch another I'll definitely try it.

I have never seen one (except in pixs) more less fished with one. What do you use for bait to catch one? Not like I could catch one in Indiana.

I know we have them heard I have caught them as a kid bream fishing in the Chatawhatchee River. Is there some kind of trap or something that can be made to catch them?

I caught one years ago here in the Spring River in Arkansas. It was as long as your leg and as big around as your biceps. Didn't want near the thing as it looked to much like a snake. Cut the line and let er go.
