Fishing with live bluegill (or other fish)

    I catch bigger more aggresive channels on live bluegill. I hook them in the mouth with a small hook and in the tail with a treble hook. Its cool because if the bluegill dies it will still catch fish.

    i've always caught bigger fish on live bait too. i dont like to use treble hooks though. they are a real pain to remove from a fishes mouth.

    I'm with ya but if I use a treble hook its gonna have 3 gills on it:smile2:

    i haven't caught much on live blue gill. now cut blue gill is a different story.

    I try live ones once in a while but never catch anything until they die.

    i have caught all my larger cats on live gills!

    I've heard that to be true, that's why I keep trying once in a while. :smile2:

    Like the Indycatman says "gills are whats for dinner" I will agree with that.

    I've noticed a difference using live bait...tends to get me bigger flathead...hadn't thought about the second hook being a treble...have to remember that...
