    Cro,
You betcha. Fishing has been for the most part great on the river. We fish near Baton Rouge. If you look through a few of the trip results from the Batoun Rouge Area Thread next to this one, you'll see a pretty good mess of fish being brought home each trip. Welcome to the BOC.

Fishing up near Tallulah and Vicksburg with a pretty good sucess rate. No flatheads yet though. Probably start fishing for flatties real heavy after the water starts dropping. Supposed to drop 11 feet this month.

    Mullyden,

Could you provide information on other ramps along the Mississippi in your area. I live near Lafayette and haven't ventured towards the Baton Rouge area in years.

Uncle D, I know you can put it near the Casinos in Baton Rouge. But, where we put in isn't a boat ramp.

Danno and D - Welcome to the BOC. It's a good place to share info and tales, particularly if you don't have a life, like us  (just kidding) BR expects ~a 10 ft drop over the next month, but I suspect things will change a little since the Missouri in Kansas and MO are flooding and that water will eventually make it down here. Typically the effect this low is much less that farther north, but I suppose there will be a rise in next week's monthly forecast. D - ramps are very scarce. There is one almost beneath the Mississippi River I-10 bridge on the BR side, one is near the White Castle ferry landing and one is in St. Francisville on the East Side. Donaldsonville has one on the West side, but I've never used it because under low water conditions it ends 100 ft from the river and for high water, it is flooded. :sad2: We do not typically use ramps, but go down the side of the levee. There are a few spots south of Baton Rouge within about 20 miles. Your ability to get in depends on whether the folks who kind of maintain the levee are using it. We rarely have a problem. Where do you folks live? Both in LA? We've had a pretty good year so far. You can see a selection of pics in the BR area thread for 2007 Mississippi River fishing.
