I have good news for anyone in the Central Alabama area thats got the itch for some catfish.

Lay Lake has been productive for the past 3 weeks. We've caught 1 blue over 30 pounds and numerous in the 10-15 pound range. Fishing has been on the main river channel in 30 to 50 ft of water anywhere from the steam plant on down to Dry Branch. We've been using night crawlers, bluegill and shad when we could find them.

The water temperature is around 55 degrees and rising, so its only gonna get better!

I was at Logan Martin lake last week and people were really catching the crappy. So the cats should be active there also.

I tried the crappie last week at Logan Martin and struck out. I was fishing 3-5 ft of water like everyone said. The week before, I was catching them in 12 ft of water at Lay. I guess they just had lock jaw the day I went.
