Went out for several hrs today, I just cant find the fall flatheads:sad2:

I did manage to catch 5 channel cats, Roger caught 1 flathead...I thought he was gonna quit after I had him down 4-0:smile2:

All the channels were 6-lbs and under, Rogers Flat was probably 9-10lbs.

I think we found a wintering hole, just cant get to it from the bank..It's a deep slack water hole well off the main channel.

I think having a boat is an important factor in fall flatheading. Without a boat, it's difficult because pinpointing is so critical.

You got that right Blacky, I can tear them up in the spring and late summer from the bank, but once mid october hits I cant get to them.

Jack, it does make it difficult to pin point them without a boat. When they start stacking up they can be grouped up anywhere throughout the hole. Fishing from a boat allows you to work the head of the hole, and the rest more efficiently. Once you find one, it has always seemed to me that you usually find numbers of them in the same area. If there is any way you can get a boat to use this time of the year I would... rollo

They were hitting pretty decent yesterday until this family decided to have a picnic close to us, then the kids started throwing rocks at Jacks' line out in the river. :confused2::smile2: And yes i did just about call it quits after Jack caught his 4th dink of the day!:smile2:

He's got one anytime he wants to go out! :)
2001 Tracker Targa 17WT w/ Custom Rod Rack! Heck, I'll even get his pop and food for him. All he has to do is sit there........... Well of course he'll have to help land my fish for me! :smile2:
