I am planning a trip to fish the Chickahomony River the second week of April any good spots to try? What bait is best this time of year?
    Thanks

Should be lots of herring, hickory shad, and the ever present Gizzard shad in the river. Take your pick. As to where to fish, I can't help you. I fish the James closer to Richmond above Hopewell.

Any of the indiginous and migratory baitfish will work fine.

Never had much luck on the Chick. Can't help you. The James is right there if you want to fish it.

If you are fishing the area around Rivers rest, go down to the right, you will see a huge flag pole on the right bank, there is a pretty decent hole there.
